FACT CHECK Romney DID Mention Troops in RNC Speech!!
Many folks are stating as fact that Mitt Romney did not mention the troops during his Republican National Convention speech. Even Britt Hume repeated this falsity on Fox News last night!! Here are the pertinent excerpts from the speech transcript as well as the video of those excerpts (It’s only one minute!!).
ROMNEY: Every American was relieved the day President Obama gave the order and SEAL Team 6 took out Usama Bin Laden.
The America we all know has been a story of the many becoming one. Uniting to preserve liberty, uniting to build the greatest the economy in the world, uniting to save the world from unspeakable darkness. Everywhere I go in America there are monuments that list those who have given their lives for America. There is no mention of their race, their party affiliation, or what they did for a living.
They lived and died under a single flag, fighting for a single purpose. They’ve pledge allegiance to the United States of America… That American, that united America will preserve a military that’s so strong no nation will ever dare to test it.
OK? “Seal Team 6” got UBL. They are still part of our troops, right? Then Romney speaks about those troops who have given their lives fighting for the United States of America.
So, next time you hear somebody say our next President did not mention the troops in his speech, straighten them out for me, eh? God Bless and protect our troops and God Bless America!
