France Plays America’s Role on World Stage Against Iran

In “France Israel’s New BFF Thanks to Obama” Occupy Bawl Street opined that France is now Israel’s best friend thanks to the French hardline in nuclear negotiations (so-called) with Iran.  It is clear that if President Obama continues to appease Islamist regimes like Iran, Israel may be gone before Obama.  The French government recognizes that it must hold the line on Iran’s nuclear ambitions until the United States, hopefully, elects a president with a backbone for what must be done to oppose nuclear proliferation in the Islamic world.

On Iran, Syria or the rise of al Qaeda in Africa, France is the hard-nosed global player to America’s eager peacemaker and reluctant interventionist.

Now, though, the French are anxious about perceived American weakness…  The game in the Middle East is to secure limited interests in a vacuum created by the Obama pullback.

The French have negotiated with Iran longer than the U.S., keeping a consistent position and diplomatic team through three different [French] presidents.  [T]he Iranians rejected every permutation of a deal to monitor and scale back their atomic program.

[French President François Hollande has] said, “France will not give way on nuclear proliferation” and will keep sanctions in place “so long as we are not certain that Iran has renounced nuclear arms.”

As for the Iranians, [President] Rouhani, who was chief nuclear negotiator in 2003-05, has… said the West will hold the stronger hand as long as Iran hasn’t mastered the full nuclear-fuel cycle.  So, in the Rouhani way, Tehran better work quietly to build that ability while deflecting Western pressure.

When push comes to shove, the French can help put off that day. Only the Americans can stop Iran. Paris and Tehran are calculating that the current U.S. leader won’t be up to it.  Block quote excerpted from Matthew Kaminski “Obama Trades Places With France” Wall Street Journal 11/20/13

It bears repeating that Iranian President Rouhani chaired Iran’s National Security Council from 1994 to 1996 when Iran masterminded two Jihadi attacks that killed 104 people. (Iran’s New President Just Another Islamic Terrorist OBS 6/18/13)  Given his background, Rouhani can not be trusted.  The French understand this while the Obama Foreign Policy Doctrine of “Stumble Around and Carry a Wet Noodle” (OBS link) endangers the entire world. – Grizzly Joe
