Meet Sean Hannity Guest Islamist Rep. Keith Ellison
I was watching Hannity Tuesday when Rep. Keith Ellison (D- MN) displayed the now infamous “attack-the-messenger” treatment that bewildered many but which is extremely familiar to your humble blogger. (Fox News link here w/ full vid of incident) While Mr. Hannity was attempting to discuss a political issue, the Ellison response technique mirrored one used regularly by Islamists in the mainstream media. My Counter Jihadist instincts told me he was using a classic CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations) rhetorical device. But, he was an elected official of the United States of America; surely he couldn’t be an Islamist, could he? (numbers in parentheses denote source material link below)
Well, Ellison is in fact Muslim, nothing wrong with that in itself, but he has documented ties to Islamist organizations; there is everything wrong with that! (OBS “Islamist” definition)
Ellison (a/k/a Keith E. Hakim a/k/a Keith X. Ellison a/k/a Keith Ellison Muhammad) is the first Muslim elected to Congress. (1) The New York Times reported that African-Americans and Muslim immigrants assured Mr. Ellison’s 7,000-vote electoral margin on Sept. 12, 2006. (2)
“This is the way we build political power,” Mr. Ellison told supporters. “They can’t ignore us anymore when we show up to vote.” NYT
Ellison, raised a Roman Catholic in Detroit, converted to Islam when he was19. During the Congressional election contest, he curiously declined to discuss his reason for converting.(2) After winning that election many of his supporters shouted “Allahu akbar!” during the perfunctory victory speech. (3)
While taking the oath of office at his swearing-in, Ellison placed his hand on the Quran once owned by Thomas Jefferson.(3) Ellison claimed he chose to use the Quran because it showed Jefferson believed wisdom could be gleaned from many sources (**ISLAMIST PROPAGANDA ALERT**), although the actual explanation for Jefferson’s possession of the Quran was a desire to know his enemy. During Jefferson’s presidency the United States went to war with Muslim slave-traders and pirates on the Barbary Coast. (4)
Ellison’s Islamist leanings are well-documented. As a law student writing under the name “Keith Hakim” he defended the fiery Nation of Islam spokesman and black supremacist Khalid Abdul Muhammad. (5) (OBS Khalid article) In 1995 Ellison was onstage while Khalid Abdul Muhammad delivered a racist diatribe. (5) In February 2000 Ellison gave a speech at a “charity event” for former Symbionese Liberation Army terrorist Kathleen Soliah; he also praised cop-killers Mumia Abu Jamal and Assata Shakur. (5) Ellison has also supported Sami al-Arian, a Palestinian Islamic Jihad leader convicted for conspiring to support terrorism.(6) More recently Ellison accused Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, a Muslim moderate who opposes Islamist groups like CAIR, of being a traitor who supports anti-Muslim bigotry (6)
That last sentence is important; Islamists regularly denounce Islamic moderates (ie, non-Jihadists, Muslim feminists, etc.) for being bigots against their very own religion.
In 2012, when Michele Bachmann (R-MN) accused Ellison of having a “long record of being associated” with CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood, he skillfully denied any association with the Muslim Brotherhood and deflected the issue by accusing Bachmann of Islamic bigotry.(7) She’s a bigot? Discussion over, mainstream media moves on…
“The only problem with Ellison’s wounded-martyr stance toward Bachmann’s accusations is that what she said is true: Ellison really does have a “long record of being associated” with Hamas-linked CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood.”- Robert Spencer
So, there it is. Now we all have a better understanding of Ellison’s feigned meltdown and, perhaps more importantly, we are better informed about deceptive Islamist rhetorical techniques when we see them.
